Continuing professional development is crucial to our job satisfaction and performance as English teachers. However, with busy schedules and often autonomous work timetables it can be difficult to fit in. I aim to look at the various ways we can access professional development. I will look at what opportunities are available to us, how to select what is useful and relevant for us and our learners and how to remain structured and goal driven. I will provide practical, easy to implement ideas and activities that can be integrated into the everyday working life of a busy English teacher, including reflective practice, action research guidelines, using frameworks such as the British Council framework and other useful ideas. As teachers we should be full of motivation and armed with a bank of ideas to allow us to continue to develop professionally.
